Packaging

Correctly packaging, marking and labeling parts are mission-critical due to the deployment of troops overseas. Rollins understands strict military standards and meticulously follows these standards as we pack and ship to our troops worldwide.

MIL-Spec Level A and Commercial Level B

Military Spec Packaging ServicesLevel A Packing: Military level of packing. Protection required to meet the most severe worldwide shipment, handling and storage conditions. A Level A pack must, in tandem with the applied preservation, be capable of protecting material from the effects of direct exposure to extremes of climate, terrain and operational transportation environments.

Level B Packing: Military level of packing. Protection required to meet moderate worldwide shipment, handling and storage conditions. A Level B pack must, in tandem with the applied preservation, be capable of protecting material not directly exposed to extremes of climate, terrain and operational transportation environments.

Preservation Methods

MIL-STD-2073 states preservation is the ‘Application of protective measures, including cleaning, drying, preservative materials, barrier materials, cushioning and containers when necessary.’

Preservation designed to protect an item under anticipated unfavorable conditions during worldwide shipment, handling and storage. The Level of Protection (LOP) indicates the level of preservation/packing that a given item requires to assure that it is not degraded during shipment, handling and storage.

RFID

Short for Radio Frequency IDentification, RFID is similar in technology and theory to bar code identification. One of the key differences between RFID and bar code technology is RFID eliminates the need for line-of-sight reading that bar coding depends on. RFID allows scanning at greater distances than traditional bar code scanning.

MIL Spec 129 Labeling

A two-label system with one set of labels is required for unit and intermediate containers, and another for exterior containers. This is a special marking system that marks for NSN, Cage, shelf life markings, serial number bar codes and other specialty markings.

WAWF Documentation

Wide Area WorkFlow is a secure web-based system that provides for electronic submission and processing of receiving reports and invoices in order to support DoD’s goal of moving to a paperless acquisition process.

IUID Tagging

These special identification tags are required for products with a value of over $5,000. They are required to show the supplier’s CAGE code, supplier part number and the National Stock Number (NSN).

Subassemblies

A unit assembled separately but designed to fit with other units in a manufactured product.
